Jane Eyre Movie Guide

$0.00

This is designed as a one-lesson unit to introduce some of the big ideas of Victorian Literature. I created it as the opening lesson in the Victorian unit for our Year One: Deep Thought Curriculum. You could certainly team it with reading the novel to make it a more substantial literature unit, but it’s not a standalone high school curriculum.

There are several cinematic adaptations of Jane Eyre — I’ve linked to the 2011 film, which is the one I use with my students, partly because it features some particularly lovely cinematography and costuming and partly because it emphasizes some of the elements I find particularly interesting in Victorian literature. You could certainly use your favorite cinematic version if you prefer.

This is just one lesson! It’s not a full unit on Jane Eyre or a reading guide for the novel. But I think it’s a fun way to introduce Victorian literature to your students.
